About

Habitat_for_Humanity_1You may remember a few months ago when we talked about the work we were doing with Habitat for Humanity. We had a pledged a home to them during the fourth annual Habitat Day in the Capital Region, back in April. Well, on November 18 Christian and Karina, along with their two children, received their new home from Habitat for Humanity, Pacesetter Homes and Qualico!

The ceremony was held out in Stony Plain, where the couple’s new home is. They’re now able to raise their two children in a stable environment. And Pacesetter Homes was so delighted to partner with Habitat for Humanity to make this home available for Christian and Karina. Zan Owsley, VP at Pacesetter was quoted as saying “As a leading builder in the greater Edmonton area we feel it is our responsibility to contribute to affordable housing in our communities. Habitat is a wonderful organization for us to do that through because of their great housing program that helps families get into a home that otherwise would not be able to.”

“Pacesetter Homes, in partnership with Qualico, have demonstrated how important it is for families to have access to affordable homeownership,” said Alfred Nikolai, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity Edmonton. “The contribution they’re making is sustainable. It’s an investment that will serve a Stony Plain family many years down the road, and as this family makes mortgage payments, Habitat will use those funds to benefit even more Stony Plain families.”

Another nice thing about the Habitat homes is that they remain in the affordable housing pool. This means if a family decides to move on, the house is sold back to Habitat and another well-deserving family will be helped. So the contribution Pacesetter and Qualico have made will continue to serve families for years.

We want to say a big “Thank You!” to everyone who helped out with this home! And to Christian, Karina and their two children: Welcome home!
