Design Plan

When thinking up a design for your outdoor space, keep your interior design in mind. Choose a similar or complementary style so that both areas flow seamlessly into one another.

Colour Schemes

When selecting large pieces, think neutral. This way, it’s easy to change the stylings from season to season using bolder accent pieces and fabrics to suit specific design needs. You can never go wrong with a solid wood table or wicker lounging chairs as a foundation.

Lighting

Sunlight will play a big role in the orientation of your outdoor furniture. Take note of the most highly trafficked times spent outdoors and set up furniture accordingly. No one wants to be blinded while trying to eat dinner! On another note, you’ll also want to consider how to light up the space once the sun has gone down. Walkway lighting is a great option for keeping your outdoor space easy and safe to navigate in the evening while outdoor chandeliers and lanterns can do double duty as lighting and décor.

Outdoor fireplaces are all the fuss these days. From wood burning, to propane, to a simple candle display, be sure to browse all of the options and choose the one that best suits your lifestyle. If done correctly, the fireplace has the potential to be a fabulous centerpiece for your guests to converse around.

No More Bugs

Keep the bugs away! Nothing ruins outdoor time more than bug bites. Don’t forget to include citronella candles and other methods of repelling bugs in your design.

Make It Comfortable

Don’t overlook the importance of comfort. Although you want your outdoor space to be beautiful and stylish, be sure to make selections that will encourage people to spend time out there! Thick, comfortable cushions and plenty of seating options is always the way to go.

Coloured Accessories

Always accessorize with plants and flowers! They bring a great pop of colour and can elevate your outdoor living space to a whole new level.

So head outside and get started!
