Smoke Detector

Smoke detectors are a fire protection devise that detects and gives a warning of the presence of smoke.

All smoke detectors are to be directly connected to the electrical wiring and may or may not come with a battery backup. They also have an interconnecting wire to connect to all the smoke detectors in the house.    This means that when one detector alarms, the others will alarm at the same time.

If battery equipped, replace the batteries in your smoke alarm once a year, or sooner if the alarm “chirps” warning that the battery is low. Regular cleaning can also help keep it working property.  Ensure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and maintenance.

Pacesetter Warranty Policy:

Common concerns:

  1. Alarm ringing with no smoky conditions – in construction zones, the dust in the air can coat sensors and give a false positive reading. Often a cleaning will reset the detector. If this does not resolve the problem, contact Pacesetter Warranty during the warranty period.
  2. Light on the detector is off – check the breaker panel to be sure the breaker has not tripped. If this does not resolve the problem, contact Pacesetter Warranty during the warranty period.

NOTE:  Smoke detectors have a life span of 5 – 10 years depending on the model.  Visit the manufacturer’s website for warranty and maintenance instructions.

NOTE:  The smoke detector on the upper floor only is a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector.  Consider adding additional carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
