Concrete Control Joints

pacesetter_homes_construction_warranty_concrete_control_joint

When large areas of concrete are being poured, and the concrete begins to harden, there is a reduction in the material, and this can lead to cracking of the concrete. Concrete Control Joints are placed in concrete slabs to control random cracking. By using these control joints in pre-determined locations, this will lessen the amount of cracks that will inevitably occur on your driveway.  Please note that it takes 30 days for the concrete on your driveway to cure.  Foot traffic on newly poured concrete can be permitted after 24 hours.  Vehicles should not drive or park on new concrete for 28 days from pour date.

Pacesetter Warranty Policy:

Common concerns:

  1. Cracking – concrete cracks in basement and garage floors will be repaired if they are 1/8” (3mm) in width. Concrete sidewalk or driveway cracks will be repaired if they are ¼” (6mm) in width.
  2. Concrete spalling or pitting – Concrete will be inspected during summer months. Spalling or pitting that covers less than 10% of the surface area is exempt from warranty coverage.
  3. Concrete sinking or heaving – sinking or heaving in excess of 1 inch during the warranty period will be repaired.

NOTE:  All exterior concrete repairs or inspections will be completed in the summer months only.  Exterior repairs are weather dependent and a rainy summer could delay repairs into the second year.
